Why Human Resource Management is important in 2020?

Why Human Resource Management is important in 2020?

For any organisation, employers are its strongest asset and they have to ensure that the right people are taken on board and further retained to ensure optimum result and productivity. The human resource management (HRM) is the one who makes this possible and plays a vital role in connecting the management with the executives.

They manage the workforce, hire suitable candidates, train them, and ensure continues development of staff members. HRM is concerned with the acquisition, utilisation, and maintenance of human resource. It’s the HR manager who designs plans and strategies to ensure there are qualified experts in the team and introduce efficient tools suited to the current technological era for better efficiency at work.

While important, the role of HRM has become all the more integral in 2020. Their job responsibilities have enhanced given the changed circumstances in the new normal. Here are top factors that deeply influence the importance of HRM in an organisation currently:

Remote Working

Work from home is now the norm and a necessity to ensure that employees stay safe and work continuously without any hurdle. Though this provision comes with its own set of challenges which the human resource department has to deal with.

They have to ensure that each employee is at their productive best and feel like a part of the company despite the physical distance. It is the HRD who informs them of all the important updates on behalf of the company and also look into all the complaints and issues that arise from the workforce. Their role as a mediator between the management and the executives comes in the forefront as they become the most vital channel of communication between the two.

Another important part of any HR job role is conducting team building activity to bring everyone together and create a fun and interactive environment within the office. This is done through team building activities that create a healthy competitive streak amongst employees. Given that everyone is working remotely, these activities cannot be conducted within the office premises. Hence, HRD has to come up with new and interesting virtual exercises that bring people together and also hold their interest.

Updated Technology

Technological updating and machine learning are an important component of every organisation and ensure that work goes seamlessly. HR has to incorporate more enhanced tools to maintain workflow in a remote environment. Not only does technology help in measuring the work credential of employees but it also makes the hiring process significantly smoother. Remote data access allows collaboration throughout the business landscape and newer collaboration software has made it easier for teams to work together despite the physical distance.

Data-driven Strategies

HRD has to work with higher management for decision making which directly impacts the company and employees. With recent advancement in data automation, HRs can track, manage and handle many processes efficiently. This includes examining the reasons for employees leaving the organisation and reducing the retention rate. Having a wealth of information at hand in the form of data is certainly useful in taking care of such decisions.

The importance of HRM is immense and their role is becoming more detailed with changing business dynamics. On top of it, is the advent of new technology and a new framework of company operations which has added to the profile of the HR.
